  • Kia Ora, I am Mary, a trauma-informed breath instructor, and SOMA breath facilitator. I was drawn to SOMA as it is a transformative practice of ancient Pranayama techniques proven by modern science combined with meditation, music, neurosomatic, and brain wave therapy. These tools can change your physiology and vibration deeply, relax tension and promote deep cellular healing.

    I am a mother of two under 6 and found breathwork at the height of my chronic stress (uncontrollably twitching and frequent migraines) this work and these tools have truly changed my life.

Scott's a seasoned breathwork facilitator that will lead an empowering Wim Hof Method breathing workshop to rejuvenate the body and mind.

  • Scott is passionate about empowering you with the knowledge to harness the simple and powerful tool that is right under your nose, your breath.

    Scott has studied the breath for over a decade and trained with world-leading breathwork experts such as Wim Hof, Dan Brule, and Patrick McKeown.

    He’s one of NZ’s most qualified breathwork instructors, certified as a Wim Hof Method instructor, a Buteyko Breathing Technique instructor, an Oxygen Advantage instructor, and a HeartMath instructor.

    He's also completing his honours in Psychology at Waikato University with an aim to do a Ph.D. in breathwork after that.

    Having had the experience of working with thousands of people of all ages and stages, Scott has developed a training approach that is both simple and profoundly effective.

  • Amanda discovered breathwork as a key tool for her own mental and physical wellbeing during challenging times. Beginning with the Wim Hof Method that became part of her daily regime, her curiosity was piqued and took her down a pathway to research and discover the many different modalities of breathwork. It was during this time that she recognised the need to share and inform people of the potential emotional, physical, and mental transformation that can happen when we tap into the power of our breath.

    Amanda originally studied with Dan Brule and the Breathmastery programme, but has recently immersed herself in harmonic and coherent breathing through Aria Breath with Tom Grainger.

JOHN MUNRO

Explore the world of qigong with John Munro as he unveils ancient breathing and movement techniques to invigorate your energy, health, and well-being.

  • John is the founder of Long White Cloud Qigong and Kung Fu an international school with over 350 instructors all over the world. He currently serves as the vice-president of the New Zealand Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association, and is a member of the World Academic Society of Medical Qigong. He has also previously served as chairman of Natural Health Practitioners of New Zealand.

    John is the author of several popular books on qigong, and holds diplomas in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qigong, and Chinese Reflexology as well as being a certified personal trainer.

    John brings a wealth of experience from his years of clinical Chinese medicine practice, and qigong and kung fu training to his teaching - running retreats, workshops, and qigong instructor certification programs. In his teaching, he aims to make ancient traditional knowledge of how our mind, body, and energy works accessible and relevant to a modern audience.

The connection between breath and our internal vital energy is so close that the character for qi (氣) is also sometimes translated simply as breath, and working with the breath is central to the development of skill with our energy.

  • Absolutely! There’s no need to have had any breathwork practice before coming to the Breath Day Out.

    Regardless of your experience, you’ll get a lot out of the day.

  • Yes, breathwork is natural and safe for most people.

    However, there are a few exceptions, if you are pregnant, have cardiovascular issues, high blood pressure, epilepsy, or severe mental illness (such as schizophrenia or are prone to psychosis) we ask that you get your doctor’s permission first as some of the exercises may not be suitable.

    You can pay for a ticket in installments using Zip of Afterpay. Simply register for a ticket and choose to pay with either Zip or Afterpay in checkout (you will need an account with Zip or Afterpay).

    We are also offering scholarships and subsidised tickets for people who are not in a financial position to afford the event at the moment.

  • Yes! We host a different Breath Day Out once a year.

  • We will send you an email with all the things you need to bring, but we recommend:

    • An open mind and curious attitude.

    • A yoga mat (if you have one).

    • Clothes that are comfortable and warm.

    • A drink bottle.

    • A blanket and pillow, so you can be super comfortable.

    • A notepad and pen.

    • An eye mask or something to cover your eyes. It allows you to relax more and go further inwards.

    • Lunch or snacks. There are lots of food options in the area and we will provide shared dinner.

    • A cup, plate, and eating utensils for the cacao ceremony and shared dinner. We will have disposable options if you forget.
